FAQ

Is Getting A Tattoo Safe?

Getting a tattoo is definitely safe. To ensure safety, the tattoo process requires teamwork from both the artist and the customer. The artist must work in a clean, sterile environment with the right equipment while the customer must follow the directions given by the artist for proper healing. Attentiveness to your tattoo from both parties is key to a clean, beautiful tattoo.

Does Getting A Tattoo Hurt?

Pain tolerance varies from person to person though the pain of a tattoo is bearable to most. The area in which the tattoo is desired can often be the biggest factor in determining the pain level. Areas of the body that are low in fat, such as the foot or elbow, are more associated with high levels of pain during the tattoo process. These areas are commonly known as painful areas due to the bone being closer to the surface of the skin.  Placement of tattoos on areas of the body higher in fat content tend to be more tolerable.

Cap1 Tattoos Aftercare

Wash your tattoo three times a day. We typically recommend morning, afternoon and night. Let your tattoo air dry for about 10 to 15 minutes before applying a thin layer of Aquaphor. Applying a thin, lotion-like layer is extremely important for the healing process. Too much ointment can pull out the ink causing damage to the quality of the tattoo. This can result in your tattoo needing a touch-up. Continue washing and treating your tattoo with oinment for 2 to 3 weeks.

During the healing process, it's important to not scratch or pick at your tattoo as the scabs flake off.  We also advise against swimming of any kind (pools, lakes, hot tubs, etc.) to avoid damaging the quality of your new tattoo.
